Tasting @ Poole Wine Circle 24th April’15

The wedding venue at Merley House in Poole had the perfect ambience for our April wine tasting. Despite the rain, it was lovely to be back at The Poole Wine Circle to present 8 of our German wines to its members. The favourite of the night was Bruno Leiner’s 2013 “Grauburgunder Kabinett” an elegant-full bodied Pinot Gris with a long finish. Oh yes, this wine was liked a lot!

We have always wanted to introduce wines from Franken, the German wine region around Würzburg and this was our opportunity. Staudt’s 2013 Monte C, a light, fresh, low alcohol white, was poured into the glasses and it became the second favourite of the night. The grape variety of this wine is Mueller Torgau, one of the signature grapes of Franconia.

Roland Staudt has asked us, if we would like to visit their vineyard in Sulzfeld to learn more about the region, its grape varieties, the art of making wine & of course their wines. We said yes & look forward to working with them at the end of May.
